I took video footage of this loon taking off from Weber Lake (they were following their mate's flight) on August 28, 2006. The baby loon remained on the lake, which is the first time that I noticed such a degree of independence from the parents.
You will see that I slowed down the action towards the end of the video to get a better perspective of the loon's movements. I use Sony's Vegas 8 as my NLE (non-linear editor) to edit all of my digital video footage.
I created a Flash 8 player that gives you interactive control of the video, and you can even use the drag bar to direct the action.
